Broughton lies to the east of Milton Keynes. It is one of the original villages and its name comes from "brotone". It was recorded in the Domesday Book.

The roads in the area have taken their names from the theme of local history and steam railways eg Bewdley Grove and Tanfield Avenue

The Church of St Lawrence is Grade I listed and dates from the early 14th Century. The Old Rectory is a Grade II listed building. See our religion area

It is in a tranquil setting with delightful old buildings surrounding the village church. It is ideally positioned for access to the M1 motorway at Junction 14. The city centre is just a few minutes away by car. Good public transport links and sustainable transport is encouraged by the provision of redways for either cycling or walking.

Willen Lake is just a short walk away and for shopping the Kingston Centre is nearby providing a large supermarket, a petrol station and other retail units. There is also a family friendly Brewsters pub and restaurant with play area. The City Centre is just five minutes away by car and the new Oagrove Leisure centre is just a few minutes away

Broughton Linear Park runs right through the area. There are also two farms, some small areas of woodland and open fields that are privately owned. There is a hotel, The Broughton which also has a Hungry Horse Restaurant with play area and a private school in the grid square. See Education

To the south lies the villages of Wavendon and Woburn Sands

2007 has seen massive expansion in Broughton. There is now a large number of new and affordable flats and houses available to buy, conveniently located near local amenities including a Budgens store, hairdressers and estate agents. Fronting onto V11 Tongwell Street is a six storey landmark building, noted for its curved exterior.

There are plans for further developments in and around Broughton, the largest being the The Eastern Expansion Area. The Eastern Expansion Area extends to the A421 South and the A1530 and Broughton Brook West. The land covers 405 Hectares, on which they are planning on building 4000 houses and using 80 hectares for employment land, school sites, community facilities and public open space.

In October 2007 Luminus Group announced the construction of 67 affordable homes for Hindu elders. The £10m project, including a communtiy centre (which will be built by MK Hindu Association) is the first of its kind in the country.
